The Bringing Theory Practice Project is committed to exploring and advocating the academic community's interest, support, and valuing of engaged student learning and its relationship to the mental health and civic development of individuals and their communities. Specifically, the Project currently considers how forms of engaged learning (including, but not limited to civic or service-learning and community-directed collaborative research) could be effective as part of intervention or prevention strategies to address two debilitating conditions for college and university students: substance abuse and certain types of depression. Currently, BTP sponsors two types of meetings to explore these issues:
